Don’t Rush the Unibrow

Butterbean found my mascara.

This photo makes me question why I didn’t name her “Olaf”

I think this is how the Bean thinks I put mascara on – smeared in, and across, my eyebrows. I can see how she might think that, but little does she know, my unibrow is 100% natural.

  1. Hi, I just found your blog while looking for C25k reviews and I love it! You are hilarious. I hope you come back and write some more.

I wholeheartedly identify with having all these self-improvement plans and having trouble sticking to them (I just finished week 1 of c25k and it only took me three weeks!) it’s fun to read a blog that doesn’t present only the very perfect and very curated image that the author wants.

I also was a stay at home mom for a long time and remember struggling with feeling tired and ill-motivated all the time. The best advice I can give any woman in this predicament is to find something, a group activity, where the people only know you as YOU, not as so-and-so’s mom. This is vital. It can’t be a group of moms that get together to drink and bitch about their lives either, (although this is an important activity too).

When I was a SAHM, I joined a small writing group with a bunch of grad students that were doing an MFA program. We got together every week or so and shared and critiqued each others writing. It was so refreshing to be around people and have an identity that was separate from my home life. This is what work provides for us, and what’s list when we stay at home with our kids. There’s a piece of us that gets shelved for awhile.

Wow, sorry for the long comment! Your blog just really brought back all these feelings! Hope things are going well for you.

Thank you! You are too nice!

Being a stay at home mom is definitely a balancing act! Thanks for the advice. I have been meaning to join a local craft group for ages now; I might do just that.

Thank you for stopping by and for making such a nice comment!
